INDIANAPOLIS (WANE) — Despite mounting testimony against a bill which would push a casino into northeast Indiana, the Indiana Senate voted to pass House Bill 1038 by four votes.
The vote comes not even 24 hours after Monday’s Senate session, which propelled HB 1038 to a final vote with an amendment allowing the casino to be located in northeast Indiana and kicking eastern Indiana’s Wayne County out as a relocation contender.
Four of the bill’s critics, including State Senators Liz Brown (R) and Tyler Johnson (R), spoke up during the meeting. They critiqued the lack of a referendum and what they described as a large number of constituents who do not want a casino in northeast Indiana…
