Indiana Man Charged After Changing Story in Fatal Shooting of Wife Holding Infant

A 21-year-old Indiana man is facing a homicide charge after initially telling police that his wife fatally shot herself while handling a revolver and holding their one-month-old baby. Investigators say his account later changed during questioning, ultimately leading to criminal charges.

Authorities responded to the home after reports of a shooting. According to court documents cited by investigators, the suspect first claimed his wife had retrieved a handgun before the couple planned to go out for the evening. He allegedly told officers she was holding their infant when she picked up the revolver, saying she wanted him to have it because it “went well with his outfit,” before the weapon discharged.

Emergency responders transported the woman to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. The infant also suffered a serious injury to one hand during the incident, according to law enforcement officials.
