Marion County Clerk warning of 2 new text message scams targeting Indy residents

INDIANAPOLIS — The Marion County Clerk’s Office is issuing a warning about two new text message scams targeting Indianapolis residents.

According to Marion County Clerk Kate Sweeney Bell, one scam claims that the victim has an outstanding toll road violation, while the other claims the victim missed jury duty and that a warrant has been issued for the victim’s arrest.

“The clerk’s office does not text payment requirements or court dates,” Sweeney Bell said. “Scammers are becoming more sophisticated, and though the texts may appear to be legitimate, they are in fact just junk.”…
