Midday gunfire on Indianapolis’ west side today left two people wounded, a neighborhood on edge, and a stretch of River Walk Drive shut down under a line of flashing squad cars.
Police say both victims were found conscious and breathing, and while that offered a bit of relief for worried residents, the lack of quick answers about who opened fire or why kept tensions high well into the afternoon.
What police say
According to IMPD, the shooting was reported around noon in the 7300 block of River Walk Drive near Crawfordsville Road and North Girls School Road. Responding officers arrived to find two people with gunshot injuries who were awake and breathing, as reported by WTHR.
Investigators have not released any suspect description or motive and are still working to sort out what led up to the gunfire. IMPD has not disclosed the victims’ identities or the extent of their injuries.
