Late-Night Gunfire Rocks Indy’s West Side, Leaves One Wounded

Gunfire shattered the quiet on Indianapolis’ west side late Sunday, leaving one person injured and detectives searching for answers. Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were called to the 4100 block of Bertha Street, just off Holt Road and West Washington Street, where they found a shooting victim who was awake and breathing.

IMPD said investigators worked the scene overnight and into the morning, but they have not released any suspect information or possible motive. Anyone who might have seen or heard something is being urged to speak up, even if it seems minor, and to contact Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS (8477).

What Police Say

According to WTHR, responding officers found a person who had been shot and immediately rendered aid at the scene. The outlet reports the victim was conscious when officers arrived and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Police have not shared any information about a suspect or a possible motive.

Detectives and officers canvassed nearby homes and businesses, looking for surveillance video and potential witnesses, according to the same report. The hope is that a camera on a porch, a business security system or a neighbor who noticed something unusual could help fill in the gaps.
