IMPD officer charged with illegally harvesting deer, lying at checking station

(WXIN/WTTV) — An Indianapolis police officer has been put on administrative duty after being charged with illegally harvesting animals, allegedly taking three deer without a license.

Aaron Mauk was charged earlier this month with Unlawful Taking of a Deer and Providing False Information to a Check Station, both of which are misdemeanors. A 10-year veteran of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, Mauk has since been put on administrative duty.

IMPD said that an investigation into Mauk was launched on Jan. 3 when Indiana Conservation Officers went to a home in Fishers to interview the officer. This came after reports that Mauk had been involved in illegal deer harvesting activities…
