A major deal between two media conglomerates will likely shift the ownership of Indianapolis TV station WTHR.
According to a March 19 announcement, the Federal Communications Commission and U.S. Department of Justice have approved the $3.54 billion sale of TEGNA, which currently owns WTHR, to Nexstar Media Group.
As part of the deal, Nexstar must divest six stations, including WTHR, as well as stations in Denver; New Haven, Connecticut; Portsmouth, Virginia; Slidell, Louisiana; and Rogers, Arkansas, according to WTHR. The divestments are to occur within two years in the deal valued at $6.2 billion…
