SPEEDWAY, Ind. — It’s been an eyesore for the town of Speedway for years, but there could be new hope for the long-stalled hotel project.
The unfinished Wilshaw Hotel still sits on the corner of 16th and Main streets, right across from Gate 1 of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Speedway’s been trying to bring a hotel to that area since 2016. The first developer tried, but lost financing. Then another company was brought in, but also struggled to secure funding. It’s been largely untouched since fall 2019.
