Indiana DNR using divers, underwater drones in search for missing 11-year-old girl

COLUMBUS, Ind. — First responders have yet to recover the body of an 11-year-old girl who drowned Tuesday night in the east fork of the White River.

The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) said the girl was with her family playing on the sandbar at Mill Race Park when she waded into the river around 6:30 p.m.

“They took one step too far, stepped off the edge of the sandbar, and all of a sudden the water was over the top of their heads,” Lt. Angela Goldman said…
