Burned Alive | Indiana State Prison airlifts another burned inmate to a hospital as its fire ‘epidemic’ continues

MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. — For the second time in three weeks, Indiana State Prison in Michigan City, Ind., has sent an inmate to a hospital burn unit after suffering serious burns inside his cell.

According to a spokeswoman for the Indiana Department of Correction, the latest fire happened around 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in D-cellhouse, requiring an inmate to be airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital. IDOC says the fire was isolated to a single cell, and due to patient privacy regulations, the department was unable to provide an update on the inmate’s condition.
