Heavy fire displaces 2 people on Indy’s east side

INDIANAPOLIS — Two people were left displaced by a fire that broke out on the east side of Indianapolis Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Indianapolis Fire Department, crews found heavy smoke emanating from the roof of a residence in the 200 block of South Gibson Avenue.

Firefighters arrived at the scene at approximately 4:43 p.m. and brought the fire under control in 25 minutes. According to the fire department, two people were home at the time the fire began at, but they did not indicate that they were injured. The residence’s occupants were, however, displaced by the fire.
