1 hospitalized after fire breaks out at residence on south side of Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS — A person was hospitalized after a residence fire broke out on the south side of Indianapolis Saturday night.

According to the Indianapolis Fire Department, crews were called to a home in the 3600 block of Lindbergh Drive — which is located of off South Sherman Drive — around 8:27 p.m. Per IFD, the smoke the fire produced was visible more than a mile away from the scene.

When crews arrived at the scene, they encountered smoke and flames. Firefighters quickly attacked the blaze and got it knocked down.

IFD has reported that, despite crews’ efforts, the fire spread from its point of origin — the garage — to the house. One of the home’s occupants indicated that a lawnmower caught fire while they were working on it.
