Police: Man charged in fatal arson left hospital, avoided arrest

Investigators say Braydon Richard Blake doused his grandmother and three other women with gasoline before igniting fires that killed the 74-year-old and two others and injured an 18-year-old.

Blake sustained serious injuries in the Jan. 18 fire, spent weeks hospitalized in Indianapolis and walked out of the burn unit a free man on April 1, despite pending arrest warrants charging him with murder and arson.

Nine days passed before police tracked down the 28-year-old suspect. They located Blake in an Indianapolis suburb on April 10, arrested him and took him to the Monroe County Jail where he’s being held without bond…
