INDIANAPOLIS — Police have detained a man wanted for his alleged role in a shooting that left a man critically injured and a woman dead on the west side of Indianapolis last week.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department confirmed that Javon Cushenberry is in police custody. Authorities had been searching for Cushenberry since Sunday, April 12, when they identified him as the alleged suspect in a double shooting at a home in the 800 block of Westbrook Avenue.
Before he was detained, Cushenberry was at large, prompting U.S. Marshals and Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana to offer a reward for information leading to his arrest.
IMPD confirmed Thursday night that a community tip led officers to the 6500 block of W. Washington Street, where the department’s Violent Crimes Unit, Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team and Southeast District Violent Crimes Task Force collaborated to detain Cushenberry.
