Multiple schools in Indiana could close next week

INDIANA — Schools across parts of Indiana could face closures or early dismissals Monday as forecasters warn of a significant severe weather threat moving into the region.

According to the National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center, much of Indiana is under a slight risk for severe thunderstorms, with conditions expected to intensify during the afternoon and evening hours.

Forecasters say the storms could bring damaging winds, large hail and possible tornadoes. In addition, heavy rainfall may lead to localized flooding, creating hazardous travel conditions.

School districts often adjust schedules during severe weather events, particularly when storms are expected to coincide with dismissal times.
