Fire breaks out in downtown Carmel; multiple departments respond

CARMEL, Ind. — EMS agencies in Hamilton County are responding to downtown Carmel after a fire reportedly broke out.

Carmel police said in a traffic alert sent around 5 p.m. Tuesday that delays should be expected near Main Street and Rangeline Road for a fire. The Carmel Fire Department and other local agencies are responding to the reported blaze.

Tim Griffin with Carmel FD said that the incident was a joint basement fire at the Goodness Gracious Kitchen & Cupboard and Indiana Artisan Gifts & Gallery. The blaze is reportedly under control as of 5:30 p.m., but crews are still working to determine damage.

“Please avoid the area if possible and allow emergency crews the space they need to work safely,” Carmel PD said. “We’ll provide updates as they become available.”…
