HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – There will be an opportunity for people to provide their feedback in reference to a mine permit.
As previously reported, Alcoa Warrick Operations had an expansion of Liberty Mine planned in an effort to get more coal for its operations. Also in 2024, residents in northwest Warrick County who owned property south of the Liberty Mine had concerns that the mining operations could have put their properties in jeopardy.
Warrick County breaks ground on new assisted living facility
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Division of Reclamation will conduct an informal conference from 1 to 2 p.m. on June 8, at the Boonville-Warrick County Public Library, for the purpose of receiving public comments concerning the Liberty Mine permit application. The application seeks a permit for expanding the mining area.
