Carmel High School adjusts finals week following last year’s library incident

Carmel High School students are spending the entirety of finals week on campus instead of being released at lunch each day, the fallout of a fight that occurred during winter finals week last year.

Previously, during CHS’s finals week, called ACE — Assessments and Culminating Experiences — students went to school in the morning to take exams or work on projects and were dismissed at lunch. Students could go home or study in public locations, with many opting for the Carmel Clay Public Library across the street.

However, a fight during winter finals week on Dec. 16, 2025, prompted a change in the structure. Only a few students were involved in the fight, but hundreds of students were in the room…
