Costco Just Opened First of Its Kind Gas Station and Fans Have Mixed Feelings

Costco is trying something it has never done before, and shoppers already have plenty to say about it.

The warehouse retailer has officially opened its first standalone gas station in the United States, which is quite different from its traditional model of pairing fuel stations with warehouse locations. The new members-only station recently opened in Mission Viejo, California, giving drivers another place to fill up without stepping inside a Costco store.

While many members welcomed the chance to save on gas, not everyone was convinced the concept goes far enough. Some shoppers noted the location doesn’t offer diesel fuel, propane refills, or a car wash, amenities some had hoped would accompany Costco’s first standalone fueling station…
