AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE’S “THE NUTCRACKER”
The American Ballet Theatre returns to Segerstrom Hall for their performance of the holiday classic that has become a local tradition. The show will feature sets and costumes developed by Tony-winner Richard Hudson and choreography from Alexei Ratmansky. With more than 100 dancers and performers, this rendition of “The Nutcracker” is an extravagant and elaborate display of holiday spirit. The Pacific Symphony will play Tchaikovsky’s famous score, including “The Waltz of the Snowflakes” and “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy.” Segerstrom Center for the Arts, 600 Town Center Drive, Costa Mesa, 714-556-2787, scfta.org

CAPISTRANO LIGHTS: MISSION IN LIGHTS
Experience thousands of twinkling lights, carolers, a full-scale nativity scene, a Christmas tree lighting, and more with the historic mission as the backdrop. The festive experience includes an audio tour of the lights that features a reading of the gospel and the “Night Before Christmas,” and a harpist that will perform all evening in the Serra Chapel. Last year’s new additions will return this year, including the scented Citrus Garden and lighted Halo Grove.
