LOS ANGELES, California — Iris Ramaya Au, a 35-year-old from Irvine, has agreed to plead guilty to a federal criminal tax charge for failing to report over $2.6 million in gains obtained through her former boyfriend’s criminal activities, the Justice Department announced.
Au is charged with subscribing to a false tax return and is expected to appear in United States District Court in Los Angeles soon. Her plea agreement reveals that from 2020 to 2024, her then-boyfriend, known as “The Godfather,” committed crimes including fraudulently accessing advertising accounts and lines of credit from Facebook Inc. and Meta Platforms Inc., resulting in millions of dollars of unreported income.
Au admitted to creating shell corporations and opening bank accounts to manage illicit funds, which were used for various luxury purchases and payments, including $1 million to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies for private security.
