Southwest Slashes Rapid Rewards Earnings for Budget Flyers—Major Changes Impacting Travelers

On March 4, Southwest Airlines quietly altered its Rapid Rewards earnings structure, significantly reducing the number of points earned for its most affordable fare classes. Passengers purchasing a Wanna Get Away ticket now earn only 2 points per dollar—a steep drop from the previous 6 points per dollar.
