Scorching Heat Expected Across Inland Southern California

Southern California is bracing for a heatwave, with temperatures soaring well above average from Sunday through Wednesday. According to the National Weather Service in San Diego, highs will reach the 80s in the Inland Empire and parts of inland San Diego and Orange Counties. The Coachella Valley may even experience triple-digit heat, especially on Tuesday.

The heat surge is due to a strengthening high-pressure system off the coast. While coastal areas will remain cooler with fog and cloud cover, inland regions will face unseasonably warm conditions.

Cooling relief is expected by midweek as a trough approaches, bringing breezier conditions and lower temperatures. (Source: National Weather Service San Diego)
