Early Friday morning, federal authorities alongside Riverside County deputies conducted a raid at a Pomona auto shop located in the 200 block of Holt Avenue. The operation was carried out due to a “narcotics-related search warrant,” as detailed by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office. However, specifics surrounding the narcotics investigation have not been disclosed. According to NBC Los Angeles, it’s unclear whether the raid resulted to any arrests.
Pomona Mayor Tim Sandoval, who was present at the site during the raid, expressed his concern about the impact of such forceful actions on the community. “We are deeply concerned by the presence of federal agents coming in, randomly, into our city and causing disruption,” Sandoval told KTLA. The raids have markedly intensified anxieties among residents, especially following an earlier incident at a local Home Depot where day laborers were detained by Department of Homeland Security agents.
The recent string of raids in Pomona, which included the detention of a man at a barbershop on Holt Avenue earlier in the week, has put the community on edge.
