Prescribed burns scheduled in Tonner Canyon

The Los Angeles County Fire Department, with support from Cal Fire and the Orange County Fire Authority, will conduct a prescribed burn in Tonner Canyon Thursday and Friday to reduce wildfire risk and improve ecosystem health, officials said.

The undeveloped 5,700-acre canyon curves in a crescent shape, stretching south from the Pomona (60) Freeway near Diamond Bar in Los Angeles County to the Orange (57) Freeway near Brea in Orange County.

The prescribed burn is part of an advanced vegetation management operation in the canyon that began last month and is set to run through October 2026.
