An Irvine traffic stop that began with a damaged temporary license plate led to the arrest of a burglary suspect and the recovery of stolen property, according to a social media post by the Irvine Police Department.
Earlier this month, an officer pulled over a vehicle near Jeffrey Road and Roosevelt Avenue after noticing the damaged plate, police said. During the stop, one of the occupants was found with broken glass in his pocket and gave what officers described as a suspicious explanation for why he was in the area.
Inside the trunk, officers discovered several power tools, but at the time there were no reports of a burglary and no evidence tying the items to a crime. The driver was cited for a separate offense, and the car was towed, according to investigators…
