‘Committed to murdering you’: Former O.C. man guilty of threatening judge

A former Orange County resident was found guilty by a federal jury on Thursday of threatening to kill a superior court judge who presided over the man’s child custody case, officials with the United States Department of Justice announced.

Byrom Zuniga Sanchez, who used to live in Laguna Niguel but more recently was living in Mexico, repeatedly threatened O.C. Superior Court Judge Sandy Leal and others over a three-month period in 2023, prosecutors said in a news release.
