As a traveler got ready to catch a train at a California metro station, an odd sight on the stairs made them pause. A tarp was laid out across the steps, and on top of it rested a small figure that didn’t seem to move at all.
Concerned, the traveler stepped closer and realized it was a dog. Her skin appeared bare and wrinkled, her eyes heavy with exhaustion and quiet defeat. She stayed completely still, as if she had grown used to people passing without noticing her.
This time was different. Instead of continuing on, the traveler stopped and reached out to the one rescue group they believed could make a difference.
