Arson suspected in major warehouse fire in Southern California

A major fire erupted at a large warehouse in Southern California in the early hours of Tuesday, April 7, with one person taken into custody in connection to the blaze.

The Cal Fire and Riverside County Fire Department’s joint X account reported a structure fire at South Hellman Avenue and Merrill Avenue in Ontario, a city located in San Bernardino County and home to the Ontario International Airport, at 1:45 a.m. on Tuesday. They were assisting Ontario Fire Department with a structure fire “at the 9500 block of Merrill Avenue/Kimberly Clark Warehouse.” The San Bernardino County Fire Department said on X that the building contains paper products.

According to fire officials, firefighters responded to reports of an approximately 1-million-square-foot warehouse with visible smoke and flames, with the first arriving unit reporting heavy fire through the roof, fire officials said…
