Fullerton city council upholds committee’s rejection of housing project despite legal risks

Fullerton City Council voted 3-2 Tuesday night to sustain the Planning Commission’s rejection of a 32-unit residential project at 111 West Hermosa Drive, blocking the development’s Major Site Plan and Vesting Tentative Tract Map.

Located at the northwest corner of Hermosa Drive and Harbor Boulevard, the 1.33-acre proposal is a Builder’s Remedy project designed to comply with Fullerton’s updated Housing Element and the city’s 2021-2029 Regional Housing Needs Allocation of 13,209 units. The development would feature 32 residential units, including five reserved for low-income households.
