North Texas mother pushes for neighborhood playground as advocates highlight need for park access

DALLAS — For many Texans, a neighborhood park is just a short walk away, but advocates say that isn’t the reality in every community.

In Dallas’ Cedars neighborhood, resident Naima Hill is leading an effort to change that by bringing the area’s first community playground to a vacant lot.

Hill said the project is deeply personal. After losing her daughter, Avy, in a car crash, Hill began advocating for a neighborhood playground to honor her memory while creating a space for future generations of families…
