DALLAS, Texas — A preliminary report from the National Transportation Safety Board was released today, detailing their investigation into the Oak Cliff apartment explosion on May 28th.
The report says Dallas Fire-Rescue arrived at the apartment building on E. 9th Street at 12:49 p.m. for a reported gas leak. Atmos was notified two minutes later, but did not arrive until about 1:20 p.m., roughly five minutes after the explosion, which NTSB reports happened at 1:15 p.m.
The preliminary report avoids placing blame on any one party for the damaged gas line, but does say “Earlier on May 28, before the explosion, a third-party contractor working for Engineering and Consulting Services Southwest, LLP, was operating a drill rig for soil sampling near the apartment building.”…
