An innocent man was exonerated last month with the help of UNT Dallas Law Professor Cheryl Wattley after fighting for his innocence for decades. Ben Spencer, 59, was serving a life sentence for an aggravated assault charge associated with a businessman’s murder 37 years ago. He was previously released from prison on unsupervised bond in March 2021.
