Opinion: I don’t care if Mike Tyson is 58-years old, Jake Paul will kiss the canvas

Diehard fight fans and casuals are counting down the days to Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson. This epic fight night is taking place on Friday, Nov. 15, 2024 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Originally, the fight was supposed to happen on July 20, 2024 but was postponed due to Tyson’s ulcer flare up. One reader speculates that perhaps not enough tickets were sold to fill the venue *sips tea*. Either way, the fight is certainly happening in less than a month.

You know what else is for certain? Jake Paul will kiss the mat. Not to discredit his professional boxing record or his love of the art, but Jake Paul doesn’t stand a chance against Mike Tyson.

Recounting his July 2020 eight-round exhibition bout with Tyson, Roy Jones Jr. told Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson on their All the Smoke podcast, “If he is trying to hit you, it’s like he’s going to be trying to kill you,” Jones Jr. said. “The first time he hit me I felt like a horse had kicked me,” Jones Jr. continued.

Jones said he wouldn’t step into the ring with Tyson again because a then 54-year-old Tyson was still too strong and surprisingly much harder to hit than he thought he would be. Jones Jr. said his chest was sore for three days after the match.
