Fort Worth Botanic Garden expands with family-focused, interactive spaces in Baker Martin Garden

Fort Worth, Texas – With the innovative Baker Martin Family Garden, a two-acre wonderland expected to change outdoor experiences for children and their families, the Fort Worth Botanic Garden is moving toward a family-friendly future. Under its 20-year Master Plan, this weekend’s event marks the first significant enlargement of the garden; residents are particularly looking forward its grand opening scheduled for fall 2026.

Designed by the renowned Terra Design Studios, the Baker Martin Family Garden is meant to spark interest, encourage relationships with the environment, and unite families across generations. Emphasizing a friendly environment for all ages, the garden will have 11 distinctive, interactive spaces to involve kids and their parents. From a central water feature ideal for safe, splash-filled play to large lawns for unstructured games, the garden is all about hands-on discovery and play.

A 150-foot-long small creek at the center of the garden is a spectacular water feature meant to inspire tactile engagement with nature. Located among native plants and natural Texas limestone cliffs, the creek provides a calm, comfortable place for kids to relax, explore, and let their imaginations run wild. Nearby, a Texas-themed pond full of dragonflies, fish, and frogs gives young guests an up-close view of nearby ecosystems and an ecological education unlike anywhere else in the region.
