It was an East Texas showcase in Arlington as Carthage and Kilgore played for state titles. In the 4A Division 2 final Carthage downed La Vega 28-14 for their 10th state championship under head coach Scott Surratt. Winning championships is nothing new for Surratt, but what is new is doing it with his son, Jett, as the starting quarterback.
