Arlington Woman, 30, Dies in Single-Car Collision with Light Pole; Speed and Seatbelt Neglect Cited

Tragedy struck in Arlington as a 30-year-old woman lost her life in a brutal car crash early last Wednesday morning. The incident involved a single vehicle that collided with a light pole, as reported by the Arlington Police Department. According to WFAA, Juanice Sierra Crowley was driving a 2018 Kia Forte when she abruptly drove over the curb, leading to the devastating crash in the 2800 block of N. Collins St., around midnight.

Responding officers discovered Crowley’s severely damaged vehicle and preliminary investigations suggest that she was likely to have been driving at an excessive speed. Notably, she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision, which is known to critically reduce one’s chances to survive such high-impact scenarios. The department has not yet been able to conclusively determine whether alcohol was a contributing factor, but the possibility has not been eliminated, as mentioned by CBS News.

The unfortunate event has prompted authorities to further investigate the cause, with the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office tasked with officially identifying the victim post notificication of next of kin. Both news sources, WFAA and CBS News, highlighted the tragic and sudden nature of the crash, while leaving an open question on the role that alcohol may have played leading up to the moment where life was snuff out just as a candle in the wind…
