Police found $3.12M in liquid meth at a North Texas auto shop. Now a suspect is going to prison.

DALLAS — A man living in the U.S. illegally was sentenced to 21 years in prison for his role in trafficking over $3 million worth of crystal methamphetamine, officials said.

Gerardo Barraza-Ortiz was sentenced March 10 by United States District Judge David Godbey, the Department of Justice said in a press release. He plead guilty to possessing with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of a mixture or substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine, the release states.

In June 2022, Duncanville police searched an auto body shop located on Cockrell Hill Road in Dallas, DOJ officials said. Officers apprehended Barraza-Ortiz and a search of the building revealed about 48.6 kilograms of crystalized methamphetamine, the release states.
