The stores are only half the size of a standard H-E-B supermarket and sell groceries at prices that are 10-20% less than the traditional H-E-B. Soon Dallas will get its second Joe V’s Smart Shop slated to open March 26. The newest store will open at Buckner and Samuell boulevards in eastern Dallas. There is one in Duncanville, just outside Dallas. Joe V’s is also slated for a third Dallas-area location in Irving at Metroplex Plaza, which is located at 2407 W. Airport Freeway. Houston currently has 10.
Joe V’s tend to open in neighborhoods that have limited access to fresh groceries. The new store spans 55,000 square feet, which is about half the size of an H-E-B, and plans to employ about 200 workers.
The chain can offer discounted prices at these stores, shipping truckloads directly to stores, which reduces the amount of time and money spent in warehouses…
