Don’t put away your winter coats just yet, because our coldest weather is yet to come. After a cool, but relatively nice Sunday afternoon, temperatures will fall quickly tonight, with many parts of Texas potentially experiencing a light freeze . Here’s what you can expect.

Sunday’s forecast

Cold start: It’s going to feel more like early February than it will early April across South Texas Sunday morning. Low temperatures will drop to between 41 and 44 degrees across the San Antonio metro area. In addition, wind speeds at 15 to 20 mph will make it feel even colder, resulting in wind chill temps in the mid-30s.

The Hill Country will be several degrees colder, falling to between 35 and 38 degrees in towns like Fredericksburg and Kerrville. Wind chill values in this area will fall into the upper 20s.

Cool afternoon: After a cloudy morning, skies are expected to open up and become mostly sunny by the middle of the day.
