DALLAS (KDAF) — More screen time for kids could lead to myopia, or nearsightedness, in children. Dr. Felicia Timmerman, pediatric optometrist from CooperVision, shares more about the rising number of kids with myopia.
“The research is showing us that due to that lack of outdoor time, we’re seeing a higher prevalence in children,” Timmerman said. “What research is showing is that [outdoor time] can be a protective factor, in either delaying or preventing the onset of myopia. So we want to encourage children to get at least 90 minutes of outdoor play for that benefit, as well as also limiting that screen time.”…
