Dallas Man Pleads Guilty to Violent Carjacking and Firearm Charges After High-Speed Chase

A Dallas man has entered a guilty plea in connection with a violent carjacking incident that led to a pursued high-speed chase, according to official reports from the Northern District of Texas U.S. Attorney’s Office. Travion Amar Williams, 22, faced U.S. Magistrate Judge David Horan on Tuesday, pleading guilty to one count of carjacking and one count of brandishing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence. The announcement came from Acting U.S. Attorney Nancy E. Larson, as indicated on the Department of Justice’s website.

The plea hearing disclosed that on December 6, 2023, Williams, along with masked coconspirators, forcibly took possession of a 2020 Chevrolet Corvette, personal items, including a bracelet, a cell phone, and a wallet from the victims. The victims had just returned to their vehicle, parked in a lot close to a restaurant in Dallas’ Deep Ellum district. Subsequently, Williams and an accomplice led law enforcement on a pursuit, eventually abandoning the vehicle and attempting to escape on foot before being apprehended.

During the escape, Williams inadvertently dropped a Glock, Model 19 Gen 5, 9mm Parabellum caliber pistol while being chased by police. This series of events culminated in his arrest and, now, with his admission of guilt in the federal court.
