DALLAS — If you’re taking a stroll on Northaven trails this month and encounter a giant herd of goats chomping on grass and weeds nearby, you’re not hallucinating.
Through the latter half of October, a herd of goats and sheep will be released onto Northaven trails to clear dense patches of grass and weeds, allowing wildflowers to settle in and get ready to grow. Over 450 goats will be on the trail this month.
“Northaven TAILS is a joyful, sustainable pilot project using goats and sheep to graze our no-mow wildflower zones instead of relying on mowers or herbicides,” the Friends of Northaven Trail said. “By rotating through designated areas along the trail, the flock helps prepare the ground for native reseeding while building healthy soil and supporting local biodiversity.”…
