Old East Dallas Night Ride Ends in Tragedy as Bike Hits Fire Truck

A 58-year-old motorcyclist has been identified as the man who died after his bike collided with a Dallas Fire-Rescue engine in Old East Dallas. Authorities say Jason Williams was critically injured when his motorcycle struck DFR Engine 17 on Oct. 26 and later died at the hospital.

The crash unfolded at the intersection of Skillman Street and La Vista Drive, where investigators say the fire engine was turning onto La Vista from Skillman when the southbound motorcycle hit the truck. Williams was taken from the scene to Baylor University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Police And Medical Examiner Records

According to The Dallas Morning News, Dallas police said they were called to the intersection at about 8:35 p.m. on Oct. 26 after reports of a serious crash involving a motorcycle and a fire truck.

A preliminary investigation found that the motorcycle was headed south on Skillman Street when it collided with the fire engine as the truck turned left onto La Vista Drive. Dallas County medical examiner records reviewed by the paper show Williams was later pronounced dead at Baylor University Medical Center.
