IRVING, TX – Irving students in grades 3 through 12 are being invited to reflect on the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and share their vision for a stronger community through a citywide essay contest tied to Irving’s 2026 MLK observance.
The contest theme, “Together We Dream: Building Stronger Community Through Action,” encourages students to explore Dr. King’s message of unity, courage, and service, while connecting those ideals to real-life actions that can make Irving a more connected and compassionate place.
City officials say the essay contest is designed to honor Dr. King’s role in the American Civil Rights Movement and his belief that meaningful dialogue and everyday acts of kindness can help bridge divides.
