Dallas City Council member Gay Donnell Willis, who represents the area where the ornate, 9,000-square-foot mansion in the 6200 block of Deloache Avenue is located, and staff said in a post on the city council district’s social media page that a neighborhood group got a permit that allows off-duty officers to restrict access to the neighborhood to residents and their guests on certain dates and times in December. The permit, obtained by WFAA, allows for four off-duty officers, hired and paid for by the neighborhood group, to restrict access to Deloache Avenue between Preston Road and Edgemere between 5 p.m. and 10:45 p.m. Dec. 23-25.
“The neighborhood group obtained a special event permit that allows the group to restrict vehicle and pedestrian traffic on weekend evenings in December due to large crowds viewing the holiday display,” the statement read. “The terms of the permit required the neighborhood group to hire four off-duty officers to control access. An invitation being circulated on social media is not valid for access. Only residents of the 6200 block of Deloache and those on their guest list will be admitted.”…
