Irving Completes Major Upgrades at Hunter Ferrell Landfill, Extending Site Life by a Decade

Construction on several major improvements at the Hunter Ferrell Landfill, located at 110 E. Hunter Ferrell Road, has officially been completed, marking a significant investment in Irving’s long-term solid waste infrastructure.

The completed projects include a new Resident Convenience Center, expanded waste disposal cells, and a larger maintenance building. Together, the improvements are designed to make the landfill easier and safer to use for residents and staff while extending the landfill’s operational life by approximately 10 years.

New Resident Convenience Center

Irving residents will be able to begin using the new Resident Convenience Center in mid-January 2026. The center is now fully paved, allowing for all-weather access and smoother drop-offs. Its new location separates public traffic from staff operations, creating a safer and more efficient environment.

Residents may drop off limited items weighing less than 150 pounds at no cost. Identification and an Irving utility bill with a matching address are required…
