Man dies in police custody after traffic stop led to struggle, Irving police say

IRVING, Texas — A man died after a traffic stop led to a struggle with Irving police, the department said in a press release.

Officers initiated a traffic stop around 7:50 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 23 at the intersection of North Belt Line Road and Cross Country Trail, the Irving Police Department said in a press release.

During the stop, officers attempted to take the driver into custody for possession of narcotics, the release states. The driver resisted arrest and got into a physical altercation with police, officials said…
