ARLINGTON, Texas — The Arlington Police Department has announced a major update in the investigation of the November 2025 highway shooting that killed a pregnant mother. On February 25, 2026, U.S. Marshals took 26-year-old Corey Daniels into custody, marking the second arrest in a case that has gripped the North Texas community.
The Breakthrough in the Investigation
Corey Daniels is believed to have been the driver of the suspect vehicle during the targeted attack on November 12, 2025. He faces one count of capital murder. His arrest follows the December 10 capture of the suspected shooter, 29-year-old Malik Miner, who remains in the Tarrant County Jail on charges of capital murder, aggravated assault, and deadly conduct.
Investigators utilized a combination of witness testimony, video surveillance, and digital forensics to solve the case:
- Digital Footprint: A search warrant for Minor’s phone revealed location records that placed him at the crime scene.
- Targeted Conflict: Evidence suggests Minor followed the victims’ vehicle and that the shooting was the culmination of a long-standing feud between Minor and the victim’s current boyfriend.
- Vehicle Identification: Follow-up investigations linked the vehicle used in the crime directly to Corey Daniels.
Remembering a “Hero”
The victim, Bre’Asia Simone Johnson, was five months pregnant with her fourth child at the time of her death. Her family has hailed her as a hero, stating that she used her own body to shield the children in the back seat when the gunfire erupted.
“Honestly, I feel like she was a hero,” her mother, Martha Gutierrez, shared. “Had she not did what she did, it could have very well been one of the kids.”…
