A little birdie whispered in my ear that The Bread Club was having a soft opening last week, so I popped in for a box of pastries. The bakery comes from the same crew as Michelin-starred Mamani, and if you’ve had Mamani’s desserts, you’ll have high expectations. The Bread Club fulfills them. I just want to highlight, here, any laminated pastry, croissants and Danishes especially. The layers are so distinct, so beautifully formed, that the word “fluffy” comes to mind. It also doesn’t taste like you’re chewing on a stick of butter. There are richer pastries out there; these are delicate instead. So you can eat three or four of them.
I loved the texture of a seasonal scone with orange and currants. But my little soft opening order barely scratched the surface. There are nine sandwiches, breakfast and salad bowls, and loaves of bread. Grains are sourced from Texas and milled at the bakery.
I have no doubt that The Bread Club is going to be a hit as big as its sibling. See you there soon…
